Through the exhibition of paintings by Radmila Mila Borojević, we move through patterns of the contemporary and the traditional, the colorful, Balkan, Serbian, and universal — transposed into new figurative and emotional experiences.

Her artistic style is rooted in tradition and radiates a love for the local region, while at the same time serving as a reflection, an ode, and a tribute to women who bring light into the world, born through the interweaving of the real and the poetic.

Mila is an artist of distinctive sensibility and belongs to a generation of female painters whose works are intense, vibrant, and instinctively introspective. By leading each viewer into a visually refined world — through a traditional approach, the interplay of artistic elements, chromatic balance, light, and unconventional perspectives — heritage becomes intimate, and the archetype becomes personal.

Thus, the dynamic series Who Am I? emerged as a reinterpretation of heritage motifs through the lens of subtle contemporary perceptions and an identity that continuously changes and transforms.

Her large-scale canvases are flooded with the joy of the moment, but also with memory, movement, glances, and energy. The main protagonists, gathered in a circular „kolo“ (a symbol of unity and togetherness), do not belong to a specific time; rather, they unite past and present, reality and the transcendental, as they inhabit imaginary spaces.

These female figures of timeless beauty — both spiritual and physical — within the recent opus of this artist represent a kind of credo, as they are guardians of life itself.

Mila is also an accomplished portraitist. Her psychological insight into observing women, their energies, and their characteristics is especially evident in this phase of her work. Within her gallery of portraits, she cultivates a sense of individuality that integrally belongs to the same culture of the inner self.

The meticulousness and precision with which moments are documented in her work are reflected in the masterful treatment of details such as the delicacy of luxurious costumes and jewelry. Traditional folk costumes, along with the precision and technical mastery in depicting ornaments, lace, and necklaces of gold ducats, are not merely representations of heritage, but connections between what once was and what could still become.

Hands, as symbols of togetherness, trust, and sincere emotion, are an essential element of the compositions. They reflect temperament and feeling.

With a dominant and luxurious palette of earthy tones, Mila warmly colors her scenes and female figures, while clearly emphasizing reds and yellows that suggest joy and vitality. Golden details reflect harmony and warmth.

Some of the paintings carry a sense of duality through fragments, as water is perceived through transience and the details of feet through movement. Traditional leather shoes („opanci“) represent a connection to the earth and to one’s ancestors.

For Radmila Borojević, belonging is a synthesis of the archetypal and the contemporary, the most intimate feeling of identity, and a visual chronicle of Gauguin’s eternal question: Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we going?

The painting cycle Who Am I? by visual artist Radmila Borojević opens a space of introspection in which identity is not presented as something fixed, but as a process — a quiet and layered discovery of one’s own being through the relationship with tradition, heritage, and personal experience.

Beginning from an inner question, the artist explores identity as an encounter: between who we are and what we carry within us. In this space of introspection, the voice of the ancestors emerges — not as a memory of the past, but as a living presence of the values that shape and guide us.

Within this cycle, tradition is not an external framework, but an inner foundation. It appears as permanence — a quiet yet enduring structure that survives despite change. The circle dance (kolo), hands, circles, and ornaments become symbols of belonging: signs of togetherness, continuity, and the connection between the individual and the collective.

A special layer of the work consists of material interventions — applied traditional necklaces (đerdani), belts, and lace — which further emphasize the relationship between visible and tangible heritage. The đerdan carries the sound and rhythm of tradition, the belt symbolizes strength and protection, while lace bears witness to patience and endurance. Gold suggests value and permanence. Through these elements, values are not merely represented, but embodied — becoming part of the painting itself, as well as part of the viewer’s experience.

The female archetype occupies a central place as the bearer of memory, faith, and inner stability. She is not merely a figure, but a space through which identity is recognized and affirmed. Her presence speaks of belonging — not as limitation, but as a profound connection with one’s own roots.

In this cycle, the female archetype does not represent a specific woman, but a universal principle — a source, a space, and a bearer of continuity. She is the place where identity is not explained, but felt.

Within her presence are gathered the voices of ancestors, tradition, and the values that endure through time. She is not only the guardian of the past, but a living DNA connection between what once was and what is yet to emerge. Through her, heritage is transmitted not merely as information, but as experience — through the body, rhythm, touch, and intuition.

The female archetype symbolizes permanence within change: the ability to transform without losing essence. She embodies both tenderness and strength, silence and movement, introspection and invitation.

Within the context of the Who Am I? cycle, she represents an inner compass — a place of belonging that does not come from the outside world, but from the depth of one’s being. Through her, identity gains its spiritual dimension: not as a definition, but as a state of presence and faith in what endures within us.

The visual language of the cycle moves between the figurative and the abstract, between suggestion and clarity. Fragments of the body and subjective perspective draw the viewer into the personal experience of the painting, where introspection becomes a shared space of encounter.

At the heart of this cycle lies a question that does not seek a final answer. These paintings do not offer a definition of identity, but rather an invitation: to pause, to listen to the voices of our ancestors, and in silence recognize what endures within us — as value, as faith, as permanence, and as belonging.

Изложбом слика Радмиле Миле Боројевић крећемо се по обрасцу савременог и традиционалног, шареног, балканског, српског, универзалног – транспонираног у нова фигуративна и емотивна искуства.

Њен уметнички стил заснован је на традицији која одише љубављу према локалном региону, али у исто време – то је и одраз, ода, поштовање према женама које доносе светлост, а настају прожимањем стварног и поетског.

Мила је уметница особеног сензибилитета и припада генерацији сликарки, чија су дела интензивна, ведра и инстинктивно анализирана. Увођењем сваког посматрача у визуелно префињени свет, којим кроз традиционалан приступ, игру ликовних елемената, колористичког баланса и светлости али и атипичних ракурса представљања… наслеђе постаје блиско, а архетип личан.

Тако је и динамична серија слика „Ко сам?“ настала као реинтерпретација мотива баштине у тону финих савремених опажања и идентитета који се мења и трансформише.

Њена платна великих формата су преплављена радошћу тренутка али и сећања, покрета, погледа и енергије. Главне протагонисткиње које су у кружном колу (знамењу јединства и заједништва), не припадају одређеном времену, но спајају прошлост и садашњост, стварно и ванпојавно – јер су смештене у имагинарне просторе.

Те женске фигуре ванвременске лепоте (како у духовном тако и у физичком смислу) у рецентном опусу ове уметнице представљају неку врсту креда, јер су чуварке животног.

Мила је и врсан портретиста, њене психолошка умећа посматрања жена, њихових енергија и особина – такође долазе до изражаја у овој етапи. У галерији портрета она негује персоналност која интегрално припада истој култури унтарњег Ја.

Педантност и прецизност документовања тренутка у њеном раду огледа се и у мајсторској обради детаља као што је финоћа луксузних костима и накита. Народне ношње, прецизност и техничка вештина у излагању украса, чипке и дјордан дуката – није само пуки приказ наслеђа, већ и веза између онога што је било и онога што би могло бити.

Руке , као симбол заједништва, поверења и искрених осећања су битан чинилац композиција. Оне су одраз темперамента и осећања.

Са доминантном, луксузном палетом земљаних боја, Мила топло боји сцене и женске ликове, и јасно наглашава црвену и жуту, што указује на радост и живост. Златни детаљи су одраз хармоније и топлине.

Неке од слика у фрагментима носе дуалност, јер воду опажамо кроз пролазност и детаље ногу кроз покрет. Опанци су веза са земљом и прецима.

За Радмилу Милу Боројевић, Припадност је синтеза архетипског и савременог, најинтимнији осећај идентитета и визуелна хроника гугуинијевског питања : Одакле долазимо? Ко смо ми? Куда идемо?

Циклус слика „Ко сам?“, визуелне уметнице Радмиле Боројевић отвара простор интроспекције у којем идентитет није датост, већ процес — тихо и слојевито откривање сопственог бића кроз однос са традицијом, наслеђем и личним искуством.

Полазећи од унутрашњег питања, уметник истражује идентитет као сусрет: између онога што јесмо и онога што носимо. У овом простору интроспекције, глас предака се појављује — не као сећање на прошлост, већ као живо присуство вредности које нас обликују и воде.

У овом циклусу, традиција није спољашњи оквир, већ унутрашњи ослонац. Она се појављује као постојаност — као тиха, али сигурна структура која опстаје упркос променама. Коло , руке, круг и орнамент постају симболи припадности: знакови заједништва, континуитета и везе између појединца и колектива.

Посебан слој рада чине материјалне интервенције — аплицирани ђердани, појас и чипка — који додатно наглашавају однос између видљивог и опипљивог наслеђа. Ђердан носи звук и ритам традиције, појас симболизује снагу и заштиту, док чипка сведочи о стрпљењу и трајању. Злато сугерише вредност и постојаност. Кроз ове елементе, вредности се не приказују, већ утеловљују — постају део саме слике, али и искуства посматрача.

Женски архетип заузима централно место као носилац памћења, вере и унутрашње стабилности. Она није само фигура, већ простор кроз који се идентитет препознаје и потврђује. Њено присуство говори о припадности — не као ограничењу, већ као дубокој повезаности са сопственим коренима.

Женски архетип у овом циклусу не представља конкретну жену, већ универзални принцип — извор, простор и носиоца трајања. Она је место где се идентитет не објашњава, већ осећа.

У контексту циклуса „Ко сам?“, она представља унутрашњи компас — место припадности које не долази споља, већ из дубине бића. Кроз њу идентитет добија своју духовну димензију: не као дефиницију, већ као стање присутности и вере у оно што у нама траје.

Визуелни језик циклуса креће се између фигуративног и апстрактног, између наговештаја и јасноће. Фрагменти тела и субјективна перспектива уводе посматрача у лично искуство слике, где интроспекција постаје заједнички простор сусрета.

У срцу овог циклуса је питање које не захтева коначан одговор. &qуот;Ко сам ја?&qуот; остаје отворен — као процес, као потрага, као повратак себи.

Ове слике не нуде дефиницију идентитета, већ позив: да застанемо, да слушамо глас наших предака и да у тишини препознамо оно што опстаје у нама – као вредност, као вера, као постојаност, као припадност.
